Detector naming scheme

Detectors are named by a 8-character long string:

DDCCOPla

where

DD2 charactersspecifying the detector type (e.g. ST for straw)
CC2 digitsfor the station number
O1 char.specifying orientation to be measured (X,Y,(+)U,(-)V, P(ixel))
P1 digitspecifying the plane number in the chamber (within the specified orientation)
l1 char.specifying layer position in a plane (upstr.,downstr.) if any
a1 char.specifying additional detector parameters (left, right, center, top, bottom) if any

So a station is defined by 4 digits DDCC, e.g.: PA05, EC02, GM10.

A detector plane can have 6 digits, e.g. DC01X2, or 8 digits, e.g. ST02Y1uc
